My father was a sailor living for the sea.
He’s gone now, but the lessons he left me,
where all about freedom.
How to shape the sails,
from the shape of the clouds.
How the colours of the water,
can help to keep you out of trouble and
that’s freedom.

My friend is a painter, haven’t seen her in a while.
She painted herself into a corner,
and that wasn’t her style.
So now she’s trying to find freedom.
She packed her backs, got a ticket for a train.
Called me one last time and tried to explain:
I can’t tell you where I’m going:
I’m chasing after freedom.
That’s freedom: Going with the wind.

Sometimes I’m a solo dancer longing for the sky.
I just leap into the air, trusting that i’ll find you there
to catch me and lift me up high and
